I am building an amd 65 my first ak buil. I drilled out one of the trunion rivet. When I was threading the hole the tap broke off flush with the hole. My question is can i drill a new hole next to it and thread it or do I have to come up with a way to get the tap out. Do I really need to remove the barrel so I can fully remove the rivets from the trunion for theading it. If so how the heck do I do that? Thanks For any help.

Well I guess I answered a lot of my own questions. I removed the barrell Using everyday household tools. Thats was cool by the way. I then Drilled out the rivets and removed the broken tap without risk to the barrel. I did also figure out that I will not ever do a build without removing the barrel. That comes before I have tried to reinstall it but live and learn. I am sure I will be back asking quesitons I can't answer for myself. I would like a few picture of how someone fixed the folding stock so that it can be reveresed in a few months.

Thanks

The next time I am in the shop I will measure the bolt, however it matches the thread at the end of the plunger, fits into the plunger hole and is encased within the receiver.

Make a small punch mark on the receiver centered over the hex head of the bolt so that you can drill it open, remove the bolt, install plunger and have a folder come September.:)
