Hi hcpookie,

So this Flux Wire Welder will be good for any non-structural AK-build welds? Like rails, trigger guard, etc? I assume that for every structural connection you pretty much have to rivet right? (Front trunion, center support)

And I'm also assuming that's the 90 Amp Flux Wire Welder MIG-100 (HF: 44567-4VGA)?

P.S. Woohoo, first post!

P.P.S. Your web site is awesome, what a resource :)

Found it SKS, thanks for the tip!

Fansipans, you are correct, welding on an AK is intended only for the rails and repairing the occasional boo-boo.

Works pretty good!
I?m happy to see this welder works on those holes. I just bought one last weekend from HF; they were on sale for $99.99. I haven?t put it to use yet and will have to practice first because I haven?t done any welding in years. I did have one problem when I mounted the spool of wire. The wire is wrapped under tension and I lost about thirty feet of wire in a rats nest as soon as I let loose of it. To stop this from happening again I grabbed some 1/8? Plexiglas and cut two 6 ?? disks with 5/8? center holes, one to fit under and one on top of the spool, seems to work. See picture.

OG do think it would work with 1/4 plywood? I loose aaabout that much everytime I reload one. THIS IS A GRAET IDEA Thanks
Cephus I don't think 1/4" anything will work, just not enough room. Actually the Plexiglas I used was .110 thick not 1/8? and it?s tight, remember your compressing that spring an extra .220 more than normal.
Thanks for the feedback guys.
