Hi all,

I've pretty much been a screw builder for all of my builds, but I'm starting to consider riveting since HCPookie put his AWESOME instructions on the web about building a hand-powered riveter.

I question is, can someone here sell me a small quantity of rivets to start out with? I know that 1-Pat has a GB going on, but I don't need anything near that amount of rivets.

I basically want to try out the technique to see if it's for me and to construct my hand press.

Anyone?

Disconnector.....

If I had the rivets I would surley send you some, but I'm in 1 pom GB so I'm waiting to get them. I have bought K-VAR's and others but since everyone's look different (and K-VAR's have the swell neck) I decided on the GB, that way all my builds use the same type rivet.
It's tough when you have basiclly everything (including rivets) you need to do the build but decide to wait for something else......Patience is a virture.

I don't know exactly when I will be receiving the GB rivets but if you can wait ........

When I get my share of the latest group buy rivets, I'll sell you what you need. I bought a second share specifically because I knew that newer builders would be coming on and needing 1 or 2 sets is all, and not wanting to spend the $1 - $2 per rivet from GT.

Since I'm moving soon and won't be needing what I have, I can sell you some now if you need them in a hurry. That goes for most anyone...

Thank you all SO MUCH!!! I'm getting some from Plinker762 via IM . . . .

You guys are great. HCPookie, I've found your work to be some of the most inspiring WECSOG engineering that I've ever seen. You've inspired me to get into riveting, without needing to buy a $100+ press. It's great to see folks that are willing to think outside the box. Your website is an INVALUABLE resource.

BTW, I may still buy some rivets from one of ya . . . I've got 4 kits that I'm sitting on right now just waiting for a homebuilt receiver [:)]

No problem! I got the whole bag now, and the 2nd & 3rd bags on order. So I'll have P-L-E-N-T-Y of rivets for the one- or two- time builders.

You know its funny about the WECSOG label - I actually found that yahoo group and they denied my joining - said my online profile didn't have enough personal data... that's how they avoid spammers. I even sent a link to my website but never got approval....

hrmmmmm.... let's see... just how much personal data must I publish online before the WECSOG discussion group lets me in? More than I care to put up. I mean, I've filled out my addy, personal stats, etc. but not things like phone numbers & such. Seems silly... but then again why go WECSOG when I have Gunco? :D Honestly between the older stuff on ak-47.net, gunco, roderus' forums, etc. I have all the WECSOG info I could ever want!

Another summer WECSOG project - using my milling machine to complete an AR cast receiver "blank". And my bullpup project is still on the back burner. In fact I'll probably work on the bullpup next simply because I seem to have a bullpup fetish. ;) I've been researching all the parts & stuff and may have a really really cheap way to build a SBR bullpup from scratch - would only need a muzzle extension to be legal.

So many projects, so little time... geez I guess the coffee is kicking in - didn't mean to make such a long post. :D

Jerry that stinks! I have belonged to the Yahoo group since it started and you are just the kind of WESCOGer they need!!! Most of the site was geared towards FALs in th begining and I haven't checked it that much since getting into the AKs. Your innovative approuch to building has sure helped me!!! I'm still waiting on my press from H.F. and I'll be buying 2 sets of 24" bolt cutters next month! BTW I tried the HF $159 sheet metal bender and it just can't hold the sheet tight enough to prevent movement during the bend. I'm hoping to use the press to solve that problem but if anyone really wants to bend flats then it looks like the jigs are the way to go rather that any sheet metal bender short of the big 5' jobs.
