I know from "word of mouth/scuttlebutt" type rumors that he MC isn't all for it, unless congress wants to cut the Corps a check to build a whole new section of barracks on every Marine installation... because they wont allow gays and straights to room together.

what we are really seeing here is not a rights for gays issue. what we are seeing is an attempt to dismantle the military establishments and rebuild them in the governments, congress and houses- own image.
break up the traditional military, discard its traditions and codes of honor and conduct. and create a new liberal institution in its place.
the establishment is afraid that the traditional military may challenge their left-thinking policies. all stumbling blocks must be removed and this they way their going to accomplish it.
the liberal elitist from academia have wanted power for decades. they now have the pull in the government and the money to get what they want.

Seriously, grow up. I would suspect gays have been serving in the military since its inception.
What is the major worry here? That military discipline will break down? That gays will be fucking in the barracks? That gays will be hitting on straight men? That they will want to march in high heels? Seriously WHAT?
If there are rules for conduct they don't change simply because gays are openly allowed. As I recall all PDA's were frowned upon ev en hetrosexual PDA's if in an inappropriate situation.

I have no problem with gays in the military. I am a vet, and I knew a few even back in the 1980s. They kept to the straight and narrow, and were good troops. But this sneaky way of doing things by the congress, and the bullshit agitation by the ****-Nazis is just getting out of hand.
Gays want to serve, fine! It is their country too. They want to fight next to me, no problem. I can handle an unwanted advance, and in my experience, gays don't tend to be any more belligerent than anyone else. They don't tend to chase after straights, too much work.
I feel the same about women in combat....You want to carry a weapon and fight against overwhelmingly male aggressor forces, go for it....Hope you are not captured alive. That goes for the gays too. What do you think the Muslims would do to a known gay if that individual were captured? Not a pretty picture.

I agree! I consider the issue of gays in the military vs. the ****-Nazi agenda to be separate. I don't like any of the minority issues shoved down my throat. But until we in the majority learn to speak with one voice, this will be the result. It will not happen overnight, we need to be a lot more far-sighted than we have been.

Gays comprise less than 6% of our society. I don't think that a 6% dilution is going to turn our Military gay. Separate the issues: Make serving in the military about SERVING. Not about sexual orientation. And yes, I would have no issue with MY SON serving in the military with gays. What the hell does it matter? Again, The Israelis have no issue with gays or women serving in front line combat units. They seem to have no issues with maintaining and fielding a highly effective fighting force. I think we could learn a lesson from them in this regard. Everybody serves, Everybody fights. No exceptions.

+1, most service members really don't care what the sexual orientation of other service members is. If your straight, gay, or asexual... keep it to yourself.
