I think it's OK if you use 12 gauge shotgun slugs to shoot up in the air. They are a lot heavier and beings they are fired from a smooth bore gun won't come back down nearly as fast.

I have never known anyone to fire in the air in celebration. That is crazy! Thats what fire crackers are for.

I always uses 7 1/2 bird shot for this. I don't think that would hurt anybody. Done it every year since I was 5. Of course, we have enough hills to shoot into here.

Yeah, when you draw yer shooting iron in a public place you should call the person out in the street before ya shoot em. That's in Emily Colt's book of etiquette.

That's proper respect. :D

I was an archery instructor at a Boy Scout camp for 2 summers.

I would always watch the goof offs closely because no matter how much safety instruction I gave them, every week I would have one idiot try to shoot an arrow straight up into the air.

They usually land behind the firing line.
