Why is it so hard to explain the ATF and FBI tactics to non-gun owners and people who do not pay attention?

Damn! I got myself all in a tizzy again! I have a co-worker who cannot believe the Gov would ever bust into someone's house at 5AM unless they had just cause.

He doesn't believe they use no knock warrants. I even give him proof and he says there must be other circumstances. It's okay with him that people get there door broke down and sometimes the police have the wrong address.

Reminds of the saying: We are the police, we are here to help! You know the one with the guy whose face is covered and he has on a helmet while toting a machinegun.

Then I have gotten the 3rd degree at work about CCW here in Ohio. OMG! The blood will be running in the street! Someone will probably kill me on the way to my car! What if I accidentally cut someone off and they kill me for it!
There are going to shootouts on the streets everyday! It will be like the old west.

Lord knows I try to give them facts and details to help their fears. I tell them about Kentucky's successful CCW program and they have only had 2 arrests of CCW holders in 10 years.

I tell them about the criminals. I ask do you think the criminals give a ratts ass what the law is? CCW holders have backgrounds checks and classes!

Just blows me away! These people are so hardwired into the socialist media they believe nothing else. They think I'm a crackpot even when I give them hard proof of studies and figures our own gov has put together! They would rather beileve the liberal media! They think FOX news is a government station for crissakes!

I'm on a real rant here! Man am I getting PO'ed about this. ARRRGH!!!

I have dealt mostly with non LEO Federal and state agencies all my business career. They are abusive and and completely untrustworthy. Most of the stuff they do has very little to do with carrying out the mission they were created for. Their regulations and enforcement are trumpeted in the media as great things, but are almost wholly worthless, and often irrational in the real world. Yet, they carry on.

Since most people do not deal with them, the average joe believes these agencies are doing good work protecting people from ________. They have no idea what these agencies are really like and I am sure it is no different when it comes to the criminal realm.

Of course, there is also a cadre of expert/consultants who make a great living dealing with these agencies. They have every financial reason to hope the stupidity and complexity continue. You deal with them so often and for so long you "go native" and inadvertently start thinking they are fine, maybe even good. Often, these experts started their career as part of one of the agencies before they went into the private sector.

Going native is something I have always guarded against....
