Just in case anyone missed it, the JPFO is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alan Gottlieb's SAF.

The usual reasons - an incompetent controlling clique, no connection with the dues-paying members, who had no say in how the organization was run.
The SAF has accomplished many good things (much of which the NRA first opposed, then took credit for), but Gottlieb's history of "compromise" and support of "reasonable restrictions" is dead against the JPFO's strident "no compromise" philosophy.
Of course, now the JPFO stance will be whatever SAF says it is. Despite claims to the contrary from SAF, it's SAF holding the checkbook how, and those who have the bucks pull the strings.
