I haven't had any use for a full size and wt 1911 for many years. A 9mm alloy commander and .22 unit (colt, detonics length 'chop job" handle the belt gun practice chores. The .45 alloy commander is mostly for hunting, or shooting primer powered wax "ammo".

Phoenix Arms HP22 is an amazing gun, $130 retail,

$15 spare mag, $40, optional, 5" long spare barrel. The barrel swap is simple, but the barrel xpin engages a notch that is made in the zinc barrel shroud, so I wouldn't be changing barrels much. A little bit of wear at that point would ruin your accuracy. 3" at 25m is about average, withthe 3" barrel, 2" with the 5" barrel. The "adjustable" rear sight is best Loctited in place, once you get it zeroed.

Loctite out the slide mounted safety, cut off the part of the thumb safety that wont let you removethe mag with the safety disengaged.

The safety really does block the sear, but it's made of zinc, andI wanted the lever to extend .5" further to the rear, for ease of manipulation. That meant making anew one,out of steel, and using the torch and Kasenite powder to harden the contact point. That took 2 hours, and asmith would charge you as much for such a safety as the gun costs. :)
