My lathe was delivered today!!! it is a southbend 9" swing and 4 feet between centers. it is not new but in very good condition. I spent about 10 hours working on it before useing it. I stripped down the gear box , cleaned lubed it. stripped down the bed and all the feed gears.
this lathe feedes along the ways and can be switched over and power feed the bed in and out across the ways too. is has forty differant feed speeds without changeing gears, back gears everything . after MANY hours of degreasing I finaly turned it on. I broke a stub knob on a hand wheel when I tried to straten it, so my first job on the lathe was to turn a new knob. I made a knob out of a bolt and it came out fine pressed it into the hand wheel and I am all set. I did not expect to have it running even this week never mind today, but it is in better condition than I had hoped.

Nice lathe! It is a good thing to have received so much of the tooling with the lathe! Is that an Argon bottle I spy in the third picture? And who is that little cutey standing near the big air compressor? Why, I bet that is Daddy's little AK building apprentice!

HB... I got a project for your new lathe.

I picked up a AK74 threaded FSB.
Someone had drilled it out so it would fit a ak47 barrel and they did a shitty job.
Think you can make a sleeve for it ??

I got to take some measurements.
I will send the FSB to you since the sleeve would have to be welded in.

Basically I guess you could make a ROD that would fit into the FSB.
Then weld it in place.
Then chuck it up in the mill and center drill it to the correct size.

I am not in a hurry and will await till I get a unmolested FSB to follow.

Thanks
CHARLES
