Since being transmitted to Governor Jay Nixon (D) on May 25, House Bill 2081 remains on the Governorâs desk awaiting his consideration. HB 2081, sponsored by State Representative Jeanie Riddle (R-20), specifies that a pregnant woman may use deadly force if she reasonably believes that deadly force is necessary to protect her unborn child against death, serious physical injury, or any forcible felony. Under current Missouri State statute, a pregnant woman can be criminally charged if she uses deadly force to protect her unborn child when violently attacked.
