I was surprised by the comment that "Goonsnet" was a Republican only place. Frankly, I was all but run off by two Libertarian Moderators on the AK side, who took great offense to topics I posted about their Party's positions. Others, such as HDR, advanced the view that conservatives should support one conservative candidate in the Presidential election. So what? He took a lot of vicious crap from Vampire for it, although HDR had "Top" under his handle. Frankly, I found it a waste of time at the other place, because Libertarians were allowed to personally attack others, even those in the Administration, if they suggested anything contrary to that Party's positions. So, I reject the criticisms of "Goonsnet," as being anti-Libertarian. Likewise, the Constitution Party had supporters there. I probably posted as many topics about its Platform as anyone else. My opinion was they suggested interesting ideas, which should be considered. I've probably posted a topic about Constitutionalists here. Green Party (socialists) and other left-wing parties which advance more government control over our lives are probably unpopular at any American Gun Board. If there is a way for a right to keep and bear arms to coexist with socialism, I've yet to hear it.
I usually enjoy reading DB's topics, though I rarely agree with him. That should be okay! Different perspectives make for good discussion. What I've found on other Discussion Boards is many can't tolerate people who have different views, especially when they present them well. That's when you find cursing and name calling.
Custer and I disagree on several issues. So what? I enjoy seeing issues through his perspective and experience. Have you ever changed your mind? I have - often. Most people on American Gun Boards agree that people have a God-given right to keep and bear arms. They may disagree how that right is exercised, or what restrictions if any may be placed on it. Reasoned discussion focuses thought and reason, often bringing people to agreement.
