Nice. Ive been thinking of doing a 308. That scope isnt going to let it show ist true potential though
I like the look of that.
Still have several lowers on hand, and can't decide if i want a 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendal.
How about a range report after he gets it out, courious to hear how it does.

very nice build! everybody loves the spc2/6.8!
Damn nice looking Rifle. I love AR's and find myself uising that platform more often now that AK's have dried up. They are a bit more challenging since I work mainly with the 0% lowers and build up my own barrels. Takes a hell of a lot longer too so play time is extended.
Tell your brother "great job" for me.
Bill
Nice, I like the looks of that.

I got to shoot a bolt gun in that caliber and I think it's a really nice round.
I'd say that scope works pretty darn well!!!

15 mph crosswind; bipod and sand bagged I got this group!

I guess thats a good start until I get her dialed in...although I'm sure a "Leupold" scope woulda made them 3 shots all in one hole :redchug: sorry but I'm not into buying "names". I know Leupold scopes are good but there's other good ones out there as well. :thankyou: That pic was me shooting factory SSA 110gr Sierra Pro Hunter loads at 100 yards with the bipod out and a sandbag under the magazine. Check out #4 down below, thats the loads I was shooting.....

And yes, I'm 'hcpookies" brother and that is my rifle and my grouping.
Thanks guys for the kind words, this is kindof a dream rifle for me. Its big enough to take down deer n pigs n squirrels around Oklahoma if need be out to 300+ yards so I'm pretty happy with my new toy.

Maximum Performance Range of the 6.8SPC from a 16" Barrel: (mines an 18" barrel so it'll be a few FPS faster n reach out a few feet farther)

1. Hornady 110 Gr. V-Max with a muzzle velocity of 2550 fps (16" barrel), will fragment from 1900+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 305 yards.
2. Hornady 110 Gr. BTHP with a muzzle velocity of 2550 fps (16" barrel), will fragment from 2000+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 217 yards.
3. SSA Sierra 90 Gr. HP with a muzzle velocity of 2900fps (16" barrel), will expand from 2000+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 213 yards.
4. SSA Sierra 110 Gr. Pro-Hunters with a muzzle velocity of 2550fps (16" barrel), will expand from 1700+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 335 yards.
5. SSA Sierra 115 Gr. SMK with a muzzle velocity of 2525fps (16" barrel), will fragment from 2000+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 204 yards.
6. SSA Speer 90 Gr. TNT with a muzzle velocity of 2900fps (16" barrel), will expand from 2000+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 285 yards.
7. SSA Barnes 85 Gr. TSX with a muzzle velocity of 3150fps (16" barrel), will expand from 2100+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 285 yards.
8. SSA Barnes 110 Gr. TSX with a muzzle velocity of 2650fps (16" barrel), will expand from 1800+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 338 yards.
9. SSA Nosler 110 Gr. Accubonds with a muzzle velocity of 2650fps (16" barrel), will expand from 1900+ fps, which leaves a maximum performance range of 336 yards.

What he didn't mention is he got that grouping at 3 feet from the bench

He's joined the forum now so I have to watch what I say :)

Hey bro I forgot to ask what is the magazine capacity with the 6.8 followers? That is correct - all you need are standard 5.56 mags with 6.8 followers, correct?

As far as I can tell, without disecting one yet, is that a spring and follower change will make a standard 30 round 5.56 mag the same as a 25 round 6.8 mag. They planned it this way so that all that NEEDS to be done to convert from a 5.5.6 to a 6.8 is a new barrel, bolt (I think the carrier is identical) followes and springs. The 6.8SPC round has the same OAL as the 5.56 so mag pouches are all the same, mag bodies are all the same. Nothing would have to be re;earned since its basically the same as what our military uses. Thats what they were wanting to accomplish with this round as well, besides having alot more energy out at 300-400 yards. When I get a minute or two I'll order some springs n followers and test some of my 28-5.56 mags.

I just got a new toy in today, its a Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ Case Tumbler Master Kit, so I'm gonna be playin with it and my 900-ish once fired 6.8 brass!! whoohoo!! :hyper:
So I asked my buddys over at 68forums about this and this was a couple of replies....darn the luck cause I have ALOTTA 5.56 mags. Oh well :pokinit:

-No one has found a 5.56 mag that would work, the ribs are to narrow

-I have tried with a 30 rd Pmag. I just left the 5.56 follower and spring in. I can get about 9, 6.8 rounds in before it swells the case and won't hold any more. At 8 rds it functioned and fired fine tho.
You can take a 20rd pmag and load 10 rds in it and it works fine from what I've seen posted.
10 or 20 Round mag?
Sorry I just now read this, this is what I have for it so far.
2-5 round mags
4-17 round mags
2-25 round mags
6.8mm Magazines

just a week or two ago these were going for $9.95

DOH! Figures I was a day late n a dollar short! Still tho, $13 bucks isn't bad for brand new units.

that was a hell of a sale--i bought a bunch of those $25 each 7x62x39 c-products 30 rd mags for $9.95 if you keep an eye out you'll come across a bargain every now and again.
Speaking of mags, did you ever get those extra mag pouches? Curious if they were green or tan.
No, I forgot. That got shuffled aside somewhere inbetween reloading, lawn mower repair, fixin 4 wheelers, buying another 4 wheeler, cutting wood for next winter, cooking and cleaning. :dunno:
Sounds like you need to delegate some stuff to the rug rat! :) OK bro I'll send you an email :D
