What can I put on my flats until I decide to paint them? They have surface rust on both the interior and exterior. And I keep them inside the house.
I removed all rust and put some gun oil on them hoping that will do the job. Will that work?

The gun oil should work just fine, or you could just spray them with some WD-40 or something equivalent

Believe it or not I store a lot of my gun stuff (especially things that rust easily) in vacuum bags, the kind that people use for food storage. They advertise on TV showing you how their machine will crush 24 empty pop cans as it sucks out the air. It's the moisture in the air that causes rust to start. Remove the air (ie vacuum) and you won't have rust.

Wal Mart/Cabela's sells them, I originally bought it for food when I go camping, but use it more for other things. Just an idea.

Yes, that is a great idea. I knew it was the air in the house but then again, I didnt have any oils on it either.
