Although, I gotta admit there's something about even less steel and even more plastic that just doesn't sit well with me.

You get my vote there too. I like to see steel and wood. Plastic, I just don't think its the same. Call me a dinosaur but plastic had always reminded me of cheap.

I'm with Lynch& Diver , I'm an old timer I didn't like the m-16 way way back in 1967 (that's for you younger guys) I was trained with the M-14 and loved the weapon then we were send to this far away land and given this thing that we all thought was a toy and told go engage the enemy I didn't like it then and I don't like it now but just as then what we think makes no dif . The powers that be will have it thier way. but I still done like it I would rather still have my M-14.

Have you seen what the market is getting for an M14? I looked at a new one at the Harrisburg show this last weekend, $1300.00. Older ones are not much better and usually highter. M1s are price so high now. New one lowest I saw was $1000.00. Guess thats why the AK is so cool, and for that matter the FAL. Jack

Local gunshop has an M14 for $1100 when I went in there the other day.
