PROBLEM WITH THE LAW..

Please. I dont want too turn this into an anti Police post. 1/2 the guys hang here and drink the devils brew with me are retired L.O.s
The problem. The F.W.C.. Game Wardens..
So. I live in a swamp on the edge of the Ocala National Forest. My next door neighbor is the only one within a quarter mile of my house.
My neighbor at the end of the street owns "5 acres" across the street from my house.
Myself and my next door neighbor have a ditch where we test fire our builds.
So. Yesterday afternoon I go too the ditch where I HAVE permission to shoot from the owner.
Who shows up by boat. Game warden..
"Was that you shooting."
"Yes Sir."
Runs the numbers, my license, come up clean.
"Do you know I could arrest you for shooting in city limits."
I explain we are not a city and I HAVE permission to shoot where I am safely shooting.
"Why dont you go too the range and shoot."
"I only fired 4 rounds into the mud."
Here comes the funny part.

"Do you use the range Sir?"
"No, I own 5 acres and have my own range set up is where I shoot."
WHAT THE F#$K.

My smile got a foot wide.

He knew he opened his mouth and inserted his foot.

Wrote me a warning and left..

here in Michigan my dad had 18 acres of land .one day a game warden came up and ask who owns this land my dad says hes dos the warden say OK ill be hunting in the back next week my dad say no you wont you are not on the list of people i let hunt my land,
the warden says i can hunt anywhere i like and he would in fact hunt on my dads land
my dad say you can try but the guys that hunt it now will shoot you so stay off.he never can back

OK so you are NOT in city limits? What county/province are you in? If there aren't any county ordinances against it it just sounds like someone is being a tart.

I swear when I move next I'm going to be sure to look real hard at a tract of land that is outside a city so I can have my own range set up!

Well actually I live "in" the swamp.. :lol:
Lake County. Unincorporated on a private road. Hell we are so far out in nowhere we just got color T.V. a year ago.

Me and my kids were shooting 22s under the US route 50 bridge where it crosses the WhiteWater River in SW Ohio last month when two Game Wardens yelled down to us to empty your guns and come topside.
They werent there for us.There was a guy on the other bank working a trapline.They were watching him and takeing pictures.We got the hell out of there quick.

Me and my buddies own 15 acres, closest neighbor is a quarter mile away. Any time we shoot they call the sheriffs. Sheriffs always come out knowing they'll be able to shoot too. So they always shoot with us, when they are done they go to the neighbors house and tell them we are within our legal rights. Always a good time too!

I keep trying to find a 5 acre or so piece of land around where I live to set up a range. For now when my youngest girl "13" and I want to shoot we go to my in-laws there okay with it but the neighbor gets mad. This is a old road with only two houses way back in the sticks. The Sheriff has told the neighbor to shut up in Arkansas it is okay to shoot in the country when you want.

A neighbor shooting 1/4 mile away has GOT to be less annoying than that one guy on every street that uses his leaf blower every other day at all strange hours - usually when I'm in my hammock!

I nail a varmint every now and then here. Otherwise, we would have Possums crawling everywhere. One was eating my dog's dinner one night out back. The old Marlin took out another one.

I was out walking in the hills during hunting season. REALLY, I was not hunting and did not have a firearm with me. The warden stopped me and asked me for my licence. I told him I was not hunting and didn't even have a licence. I told him I was just walking in the hills, with permission of the land owner who was hunting. He told me to go home. I told him to buzz of in front of the land owner. He didn't do anything in front of witnesses. Later at the gas station we were having coffee. The warden was there. One of the other guys asked if I got my deer. I told him I didn't have a licence, but If I got an urge for one I would go get one. Holy Moly! you would have thought I had committed a terrist act. He didn't do anything to me, except bounce off the ceiling about three times. Boy! they got no sense of humor.

Frankly, I believe there are far more people involved in law enforcement that believe thay are above the laws they enforce, and in fact can make up something supposed to be a law to hassle you just because.

My latest example...1030 pm, I am on my way home from my part time job and my briefcase tipped over and fell off the seat. I had my lap top in there and wanted to get the brief case back up on the seat. So I pulled over, well off the roadway and turned on my 4 ways. I wasn't stopped a minute and a county sheriff's squad pulls up behind me. He walks up, asks what's up, I explain, and he wants my license. If I had been a little quicker and not so tired I would have said what for. So anyways I hand ti to him and he runs me and walks back up to me and hands me my license and says well you don't have any warrants on you. Turns around and walks away.

Seriously, what the fuxk was that all about? i wasn't doing anything wrong and his completely condescending asshole attitude was completely unnecessary.

I will tell you straight up I have no intentions EVER of stopping for a squad car on a deserted rural road. I will contiue on, at the speed limit, call 911 and tell dispatch to tell the squads I will stop when we hit town. I will tell them how am I supposed to know that is a cop or some hood trying to rob me?

Police have lost a lot of respect and trust among the general populace...

You got that right.
A local game warden had his sights on our crew for years simply because we were distantly related to a questionable hombre. Once he followed us through 3 gulches on foot just because he saw some blood in our truck. The joke was on him when he learned that we dropped off the tag and had the deer inspected at the at the dnr office, hence the blood in the truck bed. The old feller cussed and swore all the way back to his truck 3 gulches away.

My oldest son and a friend were riding the back roads on public land(fed game refuge) when fed game warden pulled them over. Raked them over the coals-searched his truck,kept claiming he "knew they were doing drugs, poaching,etc." When he didnt find anything he gave him a $250 ticket for his taillight being cracked! The only way he could fight it was to go to court, IN ALABAMA! We live in Arkansas so this was out of the question. We took up a collection so nobody was out much money. But I look forward to the day when I happen to meet him, to see how tough he talks to a grown man!

I've set up a corporation with a business license stating gun test firing facility and sport shooting.

The Ga legislature has pushed through laws protecting these companies from urban encroachment. They have made me immune to noise ordinances.

The NRA will help you with the legalize.
