anyone else think the PTRD will make a good cheap .50 conversion?

ptrd was an issue anti tank rifle with russian infantry throughout WW2 and up to recent times according to Janes Defense Small Arms for yr 2000. typical sheet metal construction, single shot, about 7 feet long and relatively "light" it was chambered for the commie 14mm as i recall it. i have seen them in the states as C&R usually rechambered in anything from a 30-06 to 20mm, but not the .50
although a bolt action it features a recoiling barrel which is probably the heaviest and most expensive part of the weapon. over all it seems that as a 50 it would give all production models a run for their money being considerably lighter and cheaper. i don't have the links, but you can see it on the web- just punch the acronym into yahoo and browse around. there is a cl3 guy in colorado that plays with these, i saw his ads in shotgun news. no one seems to know about these and they are worth looking into.
on the same note thanks for the welcome, it's good to be here.

that's just it, the ptrd is sheet metal so it would be much cheaper. as far as reliability i must admit that having seen pictures of WW2 marksmen wrapping rags on the stock to ease the recoil set off some flags in my mind, but the 14.5mm is a kicker, so the milder .50bmg + a beefy barrel = a cheep/proven safe/fun to shoot mini canon.
