NEW YORK, Dec. 17, /U.S. Newswire/ -- The irrepressible Bruce Vilanch, currently starring as Edna Turnblad in the smash-hit Broadway show Hairspray, will star in A Queer Carol, a very gay twist on the holiday classic A Christmas Carol, on Monday, Dec. 20, 7 p.m., at New York's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, 208 West 13th Street, New York City. Vilanch, a Hollywood Squares regular and Emmy Award-winning writer for telecasts of the Academy Awards, Emmys, Grammys and Tonys, will be joined by Malcolm Gets, who starred in television's Caroline in the City. Gets was last seen on Broadway in the Michel Legrand musical Amour in 2003.

In addition to Vilanch and Gets, A Queer Carol will feature Max von Essen, Matthew Cavanaugh, Aloysius Gigl, Joe Machota and Flotilla De Barge. A Queer Carol is written by Joe Godfrey and directed by Richard Sabellico. Tickets are $20 for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center members and $25 for non- members. They can be purchased at http://www.gaycenter.org or at the door the night of the event. A Queer Carol is produced in collaboration with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Naw, I am just amazed how the gay groups want respect and acceptance and then act like fools.

They don't get it.

Yep, they can deffenately act goofy.

There are various subgroups within the community and they do see things differently. Some will think certain actions are great, while others reject them. It just like any other group of people.

Like the Black community, the wrong people are in the forefront. The wrong behaviors are celebrated and made public like that is the culture.

Until someone stands up both will continue to be sujects of derision and ridicule.

Perhaps their "leaders" like it that way.

I believe that's commonly referred to as having a sense of humor.

Yeah, MLK was well known for his acting the fool when he was trying to stir people to support his just cause.
