Ok, so it is legal to build an AK pistol with a short barrel...right?

Could a stock be built as an accesory to such a pistol legally? as in removable item.

No, you can never put a stock on a pistol or it becomes a SBR.

Translate SBR please.

They do sell stock extensions for certain handguns, don't they?

SBR: Short Barreled Rifle

Less than 16 inch barrel and overall length less than 26 inches. Requires a $200 tax stamp from the BATFE like a machinegun.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Sounds correct to me. Also, make sure you live in a state that permits SBR's.

I know that, but this would be a stock where you mount the pistol, not permanently attached...I guess it would make no difference.

Not sure about that, but I know there were a lot of pistols in the past made like that. I've had similar thoughts as well.
