Nice looking sight! At 69.95 it?s little too expensive for me though. Here?s another picture.

personally, all of those aftermarket gagets and do-hickies on ak's,well, it just seems wrong. i like original stuff, and i learn to use it the way it was meant to be used.

There is an inherent design flaw to any peep sight installed up forward where an open sight goes. I've tried them, don't like them. At the same time, a peep sight installed at the rear of the receiver where it belongs, a proper receiver sight, is the best iron sight ever designed.

Anyway, I'll pass. I see this as the gunsight equivalent to a supercharged '74 Pinto: The fundamental design flaw remains.

I have to agree with Oldgunner, Eldogg and D-sky. It's just wrong on an AK. Now on any bolt action were talkin'....if they were a lil bit cheaper :D

Dzerzhinsky is right about the position being too far forward on an AK-47 to make good use of the peep sight. What makes the peep sight so good is the fact that it changes the depth of field of your eye, allowing you to see the front sight along with the target. It has to be close to your eye to work. I wonder how good they can be on guns like the Mauser, Nagant or the #1-Mk3 Enfield. The #4-Mk1 Enfield had the sight moved to the rear for a longer sight radius and so a peep sight could be used. Think about successful rifles with peep sights, M-16,AR-15, FN-FAL. They all have the peep sight at the rear of the receiver; none have the peep sight forward of the receiver, guess way? It may look cool but I doubt it?ll work that well on an AK, so that $69.95 seems even worse now that I?ve thought about it. Sorry MOJO guys.

I totally agree with Dzerzhinsky and Oldgunner. I don't think it will improve the ability to hit your target, it might even hinder. Trying to look through a peep sight at that distance can't be easy.

I think that the model of peep sight mounted to the top cover would be better, even though there is the question on the rigidity and the ability of the sight to be back on zero when the cover is removed/installed.

Another downside is that it has more parts than the space shuttle!

Ah, good old Red Star Arms. See below for some more pricing info.
These are the "Micro Click" version of the Mojo sights. These are the lazy man's version of the older, screw adjustable Mojo sight. These AK click style aren't yet available on the Website, but it most likely won't be long. www.mojosights.com carries these. I see this is the "rear sight only" version, this sight for all other rifle types run $49.99......the version with the front site runs $65.99. Always go to the source.
The screw adjustable no drill or tapping required mojo (For all rifles, including AK's) is $34.95....and they work. They are less a peep type sight, and more a "Ghost ring" sight. They make a HUGE difference when shooting the old Milsurp type rifles.
I just might try a screw adjustable version for my SAR-3, and see how it works out. It can't possibly be any worse than the crappy rear that is already on there.
People SWEAR by the Mojo's on Mausers and especially the Swiss K-31's. The mojo's really do make a difference. The sights on the old mausers were pretty bad, and make indexing the sights problematical, especially for older eyes. These are a real improvement over the old "pyramid in a rear V" mauser sights.
I've tried glueing a washer to the back of a mauser sight, and it did help-till the recoil knocked it off (it was only a test anyway).

I have a peep on on my ORF rifle and it works much better for, but the hole is not as small as a classic rear peep sight. More of a ghost ring.

I have no idea this thread would bring so much negativity, oh well.

I may be missing something, but other than SangRun Hunter, all I've read here are comments based upon opinion or theory.

Does anyone else actually have a Mojo peep sight on their AK or SKS?

I do. I have them on two of my MAK90s and two of my SKSs. They work perfectly and provide a sight picture light years better than the pathetic OEM sights. In every case, my ability to hit the target improved significantly.

The only thing I don't like about the Mojo is the windage and elevation is not adjustable on the fly. Once zeroed at 100yards, it's easy compensate for longer or shorter distances.

The Williams peep sights are junk IMO.

Grandpa...
I think you missed the point. What were saying is that a peep sight belongs on the back of the rifle not up front. The eye has a difficult time focusing on a mid mounted sight. That's why all target peep sights are mounted at the rear of the receiver, better target acquisition and a better focal plane. For an example hold a washer to your eye and look through the hole. You have a great field of view. But move that same washer 10-12" away and what happens?

While the sight in question may or maynot improve ones ability to hit a target it will reduce the amount of sight picture (field of view) one will get. This is from my experiance shooting sights simular to the one above. Granted, I have not used the MoJo sight but it isn't any different from any other mid mounted peep sight. As a side note, you won't find any mid mounted peep sights on issue firearms, they come from aftermarket folks. As a BUIS it would be pretty good, however for me it wouldn't improve my ability to shoot over the original sights. This is from my personal experiance and others may have different results.

I used to have the Williams' peep sight on an SKS. The Mojo is much better made, but the basic principle is the same: An aperture sight mounted forward where an open sight goes. I found that in trying to sight through an aperture that far forward (and the Mojo's is equally far forward) I had lost the quickness of an open sight without gaining any of the advantages of an aperture sight mounted at the rear of the receiver.

As a bit of an aside, I did end up with a good setup on that SKS: Williams' sells a good fibre-optic Fire Sight for the SKS (high visibility and flat-faced, a vast improvement over the AK/SKS round post; I've installed one on my AK with a bit of home-gunsmithing fussing about). And while their SKS peep sight is as inherently flawed as the Mojo, the aperture can be replaced with standard Williams' open sight blades. I replaced mine with a British open-v blade, and was very pleased with the result. The British open-v is a very very fast open sight blade, designed for hunting dangerous game.

I ordered one of the new (first post) mojo (RSA) sights for my RPK74. The stock rear sight sucks, I mean the worst out of all my AK's. So I'm going to give this one a try. Also toying with getting Ace LTD's replacement windage stud, so I can use an AR15 front sight.

Unsolicited consumer testimonial: ACE products are very very pricey, and worth it.

What do you think would go best in it? Trijicon front sight or one of the fiber optic jobs?

Sang, I don?t mean to be negative, I?m just cheap and don?t want to spend money on something that may not improve my shooting. If the MOJO sights have a large hole in them so they?re more like a ?Ghost Ring? that should help and I?ll take back anything bad I said. It just works differently than a peep sight is all. I?ve wanted to try one of those little peep sights that you stick to your glasses and just bought the cheap $17.99 one from Sportsman?s Guide, it works to an extent. Your sight picture is darker because it reduces the amount of light but it does put both sights and the target in better focus. Under bright-light shooting conditions it should work well for us older guys. If you want to try this, take a piece of electrical tape and poke a small hole in it and apply to the master eye lens of your glasses, adj hole size to fit your eyesight. If this works there is another maker out there that makes a sight that runs around $65 that has an adj iris in the peephole.
