Dumb Question:

How do you remove the upper hand guard from the gas tube without breaking it?

We really do need to put this one in the library.

Put it in the vice, upright, with the back end of the tube locked down.

Grab the wood with gloves and twist.

I believe you twist the tube about 180 degrees and then it comes right out.
Is there anyone that can take a few photos and post it up in the library?
