You know, you can get a thumbhole single-stack milled receiver rifle COMPLETE for $270 from gunsnstuff.net

I have a mini mill. I could open up the magazine well as an afternoon project.

Once I track down a good RPK barrel, this could be used as the basis for an "authentic" RPK-47 build.

Add one US buttstock set from ironwood and you're set.

What am I missing? Besides 3 more US parts?

The thicker trunnion, and receiver with trunnion buldges..

The FCG is 3 more parts..
We're talking a milled reciever here like the Bulgarians use.

Sounds cool as hell HC, you don't have a FFL do you? :)
Wouldn't that be the same cost about as a Firing line reciever?

Z-Recto, I drool every time I see your pics, lol.

Nope...

Slightly cheaper, plus you get a pile 'o' parts after the conversion is done! ;)

The reasoning here vs. buying a FL receiver, is that it would be like restoring a Saiga to "full" functionality. You're taking a neutered, single-stack thumbhole wannabe rifle and making it a thing of beauty and panache.

Plus the FL receiver has crapy looking graphics on the side of it.. not that I don't like Eagles, but it looks like shit on the receiver..IMO

Maybe when Ohio Rapid Fire comes out with their 7.62 milled reciever we'll have a better option for an american reciever.

Z-Recto, I got the pistol grip today. Man is it gorgious, matches the handguards well.
Does your milled reciever RPK buttstock qualify as a US part or is it just a modified foriegn part?

Since I make them, just like my grips, it is US made.:)

How about some new pics of that RPK74 with the wood grip?
I will I promise, didn't have time today. 12 hour night shifts, you know.
It looks so nice on it I swear. Looks so much more authentic with your grip.
I could go on and on. :)
