I bought a video from Ohm's Research when I first got into this building hobby and I believe he used thicker metal, much like the weld packs, and secured it with screws by using 4130 .40" tube ,cutting it in half, and using the angles to secure the plates to. You might be able to find some old post on other boards in their archives regarding this "early" method of receiver builds.

The angle plates are the only way I can see being able to screw one together. I built an amd 65 with one of the weld packs, but I welded it together and then fabricated the top rails out of tubing, making angle out of it, and welding it to the weld pack. I dont know why Ace can't have the side pieces of the weld pack bent with the rails incorporated into it. It would be a nice product if they did. For the price of the weld pack, I think one would be better off just buying a 100% receiver for about 10 bucks more and saving yourseld a lot of work. ak'sr4me
