j4. All kidding aside. My ammo 5.45 has not come in yet. But me and my neighbor were checking out the mags. Except for the internals. I really think if you changed them out. That they are interchangeable.
The top of the mag where the bullet sits. It cocks the .223 sideways on the second round down inserted.
I bet it is the same damn mag with different internals. What say you guys. Hell I dont know.

5.45 and 5.56 hardware is very close to the same thing.

the only thing changed from the 5.56 on the 5.45x39--

barrel , bolt and mags.

the mags are close but not exactly the same. if you look the 5.45x39 mag is more of a "slab-side" than a regular 5.56 mag. the feed lips are more spread on the 5.45s too.

you might get 5.56 mags to run a full load of 5.45 with the 5.45 followers in the 5.56 mag. cheap as c-products 5.45x39 mags are though. i think your better off to just buy some of the 5.45 mags.


regular ar-15 mags will run with 5.56 ammo fairly well. before they came out with the the C-mag 5.45x39 mag, i ran regular ar-15 mags with about 16-19 rounds in a 30 round mag they did pretty good. no jams--if i loaded say 25-29 rounds they wanted to tilt up real bad.

i have been running the c-products mags in 5.45x39 for a while now so far their the ticket for the 5.45--least till there is a 5.45 P-mag.
