So, here's what showed up (unsolicited) in my inbox this afternoon:

To All the Guns Network members that received this SPAM earlier,

First let me say Thank you all for your support of our website Guns Network and good morning!

I apologize for you getting this email spammed to you by someone who not only is scum of the earth but Jeff is also his name is a THEIF and a LIAR.

He stole from Guns Network in order to build a website and as always - If a man will steal from you he will also lie to you and vice versa.

I just want you to know that he harvested these emails from our website long ago when we was a Moderator who was booted for being a flip/ flop and insubordination.

Yeah he pulled a John Kerry on us, but also while he was trying to play nice-nice to us he and his cohorts were planning and building a website under our nose, yes I admit to you that they all were using our resources to coordinate building their webite now known as gunco. Instead of asking permission Jeff and his buddies STOLE the email addresses and built up a email database. He used it last time to advertise there website and now he is using the email addresses again.

Folks this is out of my hands on what he has done and if you did not sign up at his website and got spammed then you need to demand that he remove you from this email list that HE STOLE from Guns Network or you will turn him in to his local police department for harassment, I have that info if you need it also. I would also suggest reporting him to his website hosting company, his ISP as well as his email host.

These idiots have been trying to capitalize on Guns Network platform for months with no success, just a ghost town.

I have received in the last hour 38 emails asking me this "Who and the hell gave out my email" and "Who is this asshole who sent me this crap" and "Did you sell my email address" and better yet "Did I sell your email addresses". The answer is NO they were LIFTED by someone we trusted at one time. I have told the members who emailed or PM'd me, we do not condone this email being sent and I do want to hear from those who are pissed off that this has happened. Maybe we can all do our civic duty and report Jeff.

I do have his contact numbers. Jeff took your info without your permission and if you want to give it to him straight, then email me back.

Guns Network has helped many Gun Discussion websites out when they are trying to get off the floor, what they had in common is they ASKED for help. BUT when you lie, cheat and steal, we will not condone or support any website that lives by deceit and dishonor. They took resources from us and I sincerely apologize to you all. This happened awhile back under my watch and I am truly sorry. I take full responsibility for it and I have made changes on our servers so this will never ever happen and yes I am accountable as well.

I would hope you all can agree with me that this kind of deception should be reported.

The only spam I've had related to gunsnet.net is this totally non-professional piece of shit that you just sent.

If a professional website has a problem, the administration writes a polite, apologetically toned message to its customers, and hopes that they'll get forgiveness. This spam you sent me is full of threats, innuendo, and accusations. To tell you the truth, I don't know you any better than the person who supposedly victimized you. I do know that I sent some dollars into your website. I do know that you somehow failed to keep security on your client list and have some problems because of it. And finally, I do know that as an administrator, moderator, or owner, you certainly have no clue about how things run in the real world of business.

If this is your idea of "customer service" why don't you just keep my $20 and shove your website, servers and all, up your homesick ass.

You do know that he will ban you, right? What is funny is a large majority of those on the e-mail list are members here and we pulled the names from this site. I did send this out to some other people that were referred to me as people who might want to join here as friends of others who might want a change.

What David fails to realize is we have over 1100 members that are members at other sites. We have the same e-mail addy's that he does in some cases. We would never sell or send your address anywhere which he has done in the past. As soon as I signed up on Gunsnet in 2001 I started receiving spam from all kinds of gun vendors and suppliers. I never had received that before because up til then I had never cruised a gun forum.

Anyway, his argument is moot and if people want to get pissy and send nasty e-mails that is fine. They will not recieve another e-mail as I did not plan on sending another.

Oh, and it's easy to delete unwelcome e-mails too. I do it evberyday for the companies that he sent my address to 3 years ago and all the other BS out there.

I frequented the C&R board for awhile after first getting my Cruffler license, and gleaned some good information from that forum. The guys seemed pretty friendly to a newcomer, too. But I noticed a real downturn in the community about the time they started their own FAL board. Formerly friendly chaps all of a sudden started to get testy about the Falfiles board, where I've spent many a happy hour and found info to build several FALs.

When I started to get an interest in building up an AK or two, I looked at several boards. Gunsnet seemed to have an active board all right, but it's nasty in there! For AK stuff, I believe I've found my home - and it's right here! I was pretty amazed to get that e-mail from "David," that's the type of paper trail that attorneys love to follow in pursuing libel and/or slander cases....

How could he get a list of emails unless he was an admin? Gunsnet has it set so that if you email someone you don't see their email, it's sent as a 'form'. I'm sure it isn't illegal to keep a copy of your friend's email addresses.

Exactly what 'resources' does David provide? I've always felt it was the MEMBERS who gave out valuable resources and information. The only resource he has are hacks to read everyone's private messages.

Sure, have someone else call the Police and get laughed at! Funny how this email starts off stating Jeff STOLE private email addresses but now he is offering Jeff's private information to anyone who asks. Now *that* is illegal. Maybe everyone should call the Police on David for harassing Jeff! While we're at it, we should let the programmers of the Arcade hack (yes, it is a hack, it is NOT paid software as everyone was led to believe) know that David is making money off of their ideas! Or how about letting Calvin Klein know he is capitalizing on their logo?

"We" can do "our" civic duty? What exactly is HE doing besides trying to get someone else to start trouble? Maybe he'll charge everyone $20 for Jeff's name, $50 for his address, and $100 for name, phone #, and address?

Wait a minute! YOUR servers?? I thought the whole reason for charging all this money was for the fact you 'changed' servers? Didn't you just buy 3 new servers worth $28,000? or is that what he just told his advertisers? Besides, if Jeff did steal email addresses (which he did not) I thought he was the King of Security? Another lie?


I would hope you all can agree with me that this kind of deception should be reported.

Yeah, I agree that David's deception, lies, and extortion should be reported. I also wonder if he pays taxes on all this 'income' from his 'fund drives'.

If Gunco was such a 'ghost town' then why would he get so upset? Personally, I think he lost a lot of members due to the fact he wanted everyone to pay $20 to get private messages and edit their own profile. I know of not one website that charges for that. Some of the 'premium' stuff I can see charging for, but basic features is a joke, especially when you can go elsewhere and get it for free. I believe he had a plan to make a killing off of this membership drive and when it failed he decided to take his frustration out on someone else. You can get a rough estimate of what he is making by adding up advertisers fees and memberships. His site is more than well paid for, and I'd bet his house and boat are too.

Gunco is a great site, with good honest people. You've got many other gun websites backing you. :thumbup1:

Well, I for one am glad that I got Davids spam email. I found out about this site from it. Never did get that evil spam from Jeff though.

Because I questioned the wisdom of, and the way he went about, taking user features away unless you paid him (and made fun of his total lack of people skills and obvious problem with speeling and grammur) he has decided to "make an example of me" and I have been banned. :bawling:

He did not offer to refund the 50 bucks for myself and the 20 bucks for my son that I sent him after I had used the forum for a few weeks. I donated to the site without having to be told to do so because I felt it was the right thing to do since I was getting information that was helpful to me.

I also received his email to the "hard core" members who were the salt of the earth and such great people. Yeah, as long as you send money and keep your mouth shut. Too bad there is a base of members there with built in knee pads and very brown noses.

So here I am, the great "trouble maker". Hopefully there are more trouble makers who will find the way over here and this place can become a great alternative to that other place and David will realize that heavy handed bullying tactics don't sit well with gun enthusiasts. GG
