and all, often including a spare mag that's worth $20. They are a Single action, single stack, all milled steel autoloader, with good sights, trigger pull, and safety lever. 28 ozs, 7.2" long, 8 rd mag. Check out AimSurplus, J &G Sales, SOG Int'l for them. $20 should pay any FFL dealer to get one for you. Dealer cost is $140 or so. $10 shipping, and $10 sales tax. It's the centerfire handgun buy of the century, basically. I'd take 3 of them over a new Glock or Beretta, any day.

This was the issue sidearm in both Rhodesia and South Africa back in the 70's. I've heard good things about them for years and they make a great concealed carry weapon if you are comforatable with cocked and locked carry.

I have one. It does have a nice deep blue, very well made, but it is HEAVY!! Very good as an active; displayed side arm, ie; police or military. I think too heavy though for a concealed carry. I will see if I can take a few pics and post them....

28 ozs is not heavy, same wt, as a matter of fact, as an Alloy framed Commander. Given the 3 ozs of loading the BM 9mm, and the 10 ozs of loading the Glock .45, the Star is lighter than the polymer Austrian pc, too. :) Do a search for SecurityArms.com, or GunsAmerica.com, for pics of the Star.

While you are there, look at the LaFrance "Nova' chopjob of the Star BM. $1500 or so.

I bought a super B about a year ago. I love it. it is more reliable than my brand new 1911.
I git it as poor finish and excelant metal condition, almost no ware. I stripped it and refinished it. If push came to shove that is the one I would want with me.

This gun has been in the back of my mind for some time, if I hadn?t spent almost $500 for my Taurus PT-99 I would have liked this or a Browning. The Star BM in 9mm was rated very high in all categories in ?Gun Test? magazine earlier this year and was a recommended buy with no hesitation.
It looks like a 1911 but is of course smaller, it?s also faster to field strip because its built differently than the 1911. Every time I open a copy of ?Shotgun News? I see the BM and I have too fight the urge to buy one. So many guns and so little money, Damn it!!!
