Well it is finally my turn. I know everyone can relate to reading the post about the stuff someone else mail ordered and how it was in absolutely the best shape it could be in and the very same "stuff" that you ordered up was marginally acceptable at best. Well the two AMD kits that I got from Tapco for 60.00 apiece were in absolutely great shape. All matching and hardly a nick or scratch on them anywhere. I have put about 200-300 rounds through my last AMD that I built and it has more wear on the bolt and carrier than these kits do. I'd have to say they were carried very little and shot even less.

my $60 AMD even had what I believe to be a matching number on the brake. the last numbers of the ser were stamped into the brake.

I bought 5 of these $60.00 kits. (You can never have too many, RIGHT?) When they first came in, I was ready to ship em back. Every kit, and even mag pouches, were covered in some kind of white filmlike corrosion. But I spent an hour cleaning 1 kit with wd40 and elbow grease, and it came off, revealing what looks to be a new ak. So I'm happy! Maybe, with any luck, there'll be another $60 sale in a month? hopehopehope. I should have bought 10, or even 15 kits.

Mine looked much like the ones you guys are describing. All of the brakes in the kits I got matched the barrel, and piston. On the other hand, the rest of the parts came from another matching kit. The bolt, carrier, and cover all match. Basically, my kits are a combination of 2 matching kits.

I got in on the AMD 65 for $60 too. I have been wanting to build a AK for a long time and the price was just to good to pass up and I'm glad I didin't. Mine has all matching numbers too. I also ordered the used AMD 65 mags for $5 and they are in way better shape than I expected too. Only one had any wear from use the rest had what looked to be storage wear on the finish. I wouldn't even bother spending double the prce for the new ones tapco has.

Ya'll must have bought these during the 4th of july sale. I paid $74.99 for mine and like you said excellent condition! I also bought 2 20 round hungarian mags at $5.99 each and they are in excellent shape. I live 2 miles from tapco, all I do is call them and the next day go pick up my parts. Excellent people! Come visit the city of kennesaw and the GENERAL! The historic train!

I have also noticed some of that white and yellow crusty looking stuff on tapco's parts. What is that stuff? Is that old packing grease or something? It is hard to get off but I must say, when you can get the part clean it does reveal like new condition.
