It was your pioneering work on the ?bolt cutter-riveters? which gave me the confidence to attempt a set, so I could do a rivet built. I know a lot of people have had great success with the screw build, but the rivet build just looks right, to me. This was a full stock AK build and the ?Pookie Riveters? worked great! I used your information to get me going in the right direction and made a minor change or two so that I could use the same four jaws and do the rear trunion also. I have pictures of the jaws I can e-mail you, if you like. Thanks again. :thumbup1:

Glad to hear it!!!! Now that's what I like to hear... someone used my efforts to make a successful build! Makes the old Pookster proud. :)

You know, someone on gunsnet has also taken my idea and is building riveting sets for others. Seems silly to me, if you can use a dremel and/or angle grinder you can make your own, but as long as it means that more AKs are being born, then GOOD DEAL.

Can you post pics here? I'd love to see your work, both the tools and the rifle!!!!

I'd be glad to post the pics, but, I have no idea how to post pics on this forum. I'm waiting till the 14th to complete the rifle, so I can't do pics of it till then.

-Rivet build-

Pookie,
First of all I'd like to let you know how happy I am that your sights back up, you've helped me in soo many ways you can't imagine.
Most of my builds are screw builds, but I'm thinking of a rivet build.
And was thinking of using your idea for the bolt cutters.
Could you send me some info. on rivet building? I'm kind of sceptical about the rivet thing being that once you set, you can't go back. but I'll try anything once.
Before I did my last build (pmkms) I was going to use rivets but tested on some misc. stock and the only thing they did was bend like hell.
It would be greatly appriciated,
Thanks......Shadow

What kind of info? Rivets are the "factory" method and are suitable for applications where permanent installation is preferred. I can't think of what info you would need? If you are worried about screwing it up, then don't be... you can always always drill out the old rivet and put a new one in. Did that very thing on my Plum kit build this last week.
