The $30 Dollar Receiver?

What's up with this? The picture shows an under folder receiver if I'm not mistaken, which all those rifles are not. I'm pretty skeptical.

Both the M70 and M72 were made in underfolder styles.

M70AB1 - wood stock
M70AB2 - underfolder
M72B1 - wood stock
M72B2 - underfolder

The M85 is a "krink" style underfolder (though I *though* it was slab-sided, not bulged).

See Small Arms Illustrated (Gunco Book) for pictures.
That is a good price though. Shows how few kits are left if they are practically giving the Yugo style receivers away.
Wow, cool. Thanks for the info. Would other under folders work with that receiver, or only yugo ones?
It's ORF.

You'll be lucky if they're in stock at that price.
That would sure beat cutting all those holes... may have to get one myself! :)
Hey, I almost got a Krinks receiver to work once. They can't be any worse than those.
THOSE ARE VULCAN RECEIVERS!!
I think you are right. When I bought my M90 kit a while back they included one for free. It was a vulcan receiver. I bet these are left overs that went with those kits.
I built an M70 on one of those once. It sure wasn't like building on a Nodak Spud, that's for sure, but after lots of fitting, and egging out the trunnion holes, etc...., it actually turned out to be a pretty nice underfolder. Very smooth action compared to some of my other builds, and so far, no ejector heat treat issues. Now mind you, I only have about 100 rounds through it. I say go ahead and get one, and then just to be on the safe side, re-heat treat everything, that way you know that it's done right. While it certainly wouldn't be my first choice, I wouldn't hesitate to build another one on that receiver, especially at that price. Heck, that's the price of a flat!!!!!!! YMMV,

It wouldn't be my first choice but for the price and if you actually can use it for something, I'd get one, just because it's cheap.

Yes - these are Vulcan. If you are a heavy duty builder, issues can be overcome. Still it is hard to justify the labor involved vs other choices.
Click on "AK Receivers" and they list milled M70 receivers, your choice underfolding or fixed stock, for $175, and 8mm M76 receivers for $200.

$175 for a milled, fixed stock receiver. Hmm.
Just got one of these last week. They are the Vulcan receivers. Not good at all. Nothing lined up right. Spend a little more if you want it to be easy and get a quality receiver. What do you expect for $30?
I'VE built 2 on that receiver. It gave me very little trouble. If you know how to build aks's,
the receiver is quite a good deal. Also built a M70 Yugo on a milled receiver. [ORF] Easy build. The m76 Receivers are also quite good. I paid $499.00 for the fist one, OCH-and$199.00 for the second one.
If you have the money, I would suggest you buy the M76 receiver, parts kit, and the Green Mt. barrel. A REAL GREAT BUY. All numbers match the receiver, and the scope.

How did the m70 ORF milled receiver treat you? I've been reading on this site poor things about ORF milled receivers and I've been tempted to pull the trigger.

Something about their receivers getting all out of spec and then the rifle losing it's proper headspace after continuous use. Anyone know anything about this?
