Here's a couple of pics of my first build, a amd 65. I built the receiver from scratch using 3/16 hot rolled steel and welded it up with a mig welder. I had to make my own fcg pins because the reciver is so much thicker than the stock one. I used , beleive it or not, a cleaning rod from an ak to make the pins. I hardened every thing by heating with a map torch to cherry re and quencing it in motor oil. Then I baked it in an oven at 500 degrees for an hour and then let cool. It turned out looking just like the hardened lower rails I bought. I have fired 2000 rounds through it so far without a misfire or jam. I must admit, though, I spent more money making my receiver than it would have cost to buy a couple of complete receivers from oow or joeken or globel trades.
