I felt like it was Christmas in May with the different things that showed up in my mailbox. I got one package that was part of a trade deal and opened it to see a beautiful polytech 30 round AK mag. Then I got to the second package which was much heavier. It was the two fake cans that I was waiting for. These are for two AMD65 projects. One is for a friend of mine and the other is for me. 
Here is what the fake can looks like on the AMD65 barrel.

I figure this project is like a "poor mans krink" so to speak. Originally this topic was covered at this thread http://www.gunco.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21&page=1&pp=10 . I was able to buy a shortened gas tube that was modified from a standard gas tube so that regular handguards could be used. Of course it would be awesome to have the galil handguard and folding stock that Tapco has teased us with. But either way I now have the last piece for this project (other than trying to decide what stock and handguards to use). I figure using a blind pin would be the best way to go, but will see how everything goes as the project progresses.
