I am building my first AMD65 using a Vulcan receiver and a kit I got from TAPCO . The problem I am having is the trigger does not pull far enough for the hammer to lock in place . From what I can figure I have a double hook trigger and the receiver is made for a single hook . What is the best way to fix this without ordering a new trigger right away file the receiver or the trigger ? Or is there something else wrong that I am over looking ?

If you have a double hook trigger and your receiver is only punched for a single hook, just copy the original notch to the other side of the trigger hole to allow the double hook to pivot properly.

Well after reading how everyone else just dives right into fixing a problem on thier builds , I went ahead and ground down part of the second hook and it works fine now . The worse that could of happened is I would have to buy another trigger . Now I just have to figure out how to make the selector work right , it will not go to safe .

sometimes the tab on the safety selector that is closest to the trigger needs to be filed some so that it will have enough clearance.

I see what you are saying by removeing material from the trigger and not the reciever. I have never heard of anyone dooing that before. no reason I can think of why it is not a good idea, heck it will look like a single from the outside and be double inside, too cool. I love it when a new guy just dives in, then comes up with something new :)
welcome to Gunco ,, keep us posted how the build goes.

Well I filed down the selector a hair and it works fine now .Then I had to open the mag well up just a little in front of the trigger gaurd so the mag would fit and its done . I just got back from the range where I put my first ten rounds through it , man what a good feeling . I only fired ten rounds so I could check for any problems I'm getting ready to clean it and lube it real good so next time I can fire a lot more .
