what do you do with the full auto parts?

Not asking about doing anything illegal. But after the build with the 922 compliance parts, what does folks do with the factory trigger parts? Just throw them away? I see some of the dealers sell the parts, I just cant see throwing them on craigslist and selling them to some idiot wanting to convert their semi. jim

I throw them in a drawer. If some idiot wants to convert his semi to full auto I could give a damn. I don't have the balls to do it.
Within the realm of AK parts, they're just that, parts.

Whether or not *I* sell any to some "idiot" the fact remains that they're just parts and can be bought at numerous places other than at my home.
Yep, just throw in the whatever box of parts.
I gave all mine to my class 3/SOT dealer. He appreciates the free parts and I don't have to worry about any problems that may arise.
Pssst, let me tell you a secret:

On an AK, the same parts are both semi- and full-auto parts¹.

Don't tell anyone, 'kay?

If you're in Washington state, you're a felon if you have those parts (any parts that can be used in a FA gun are illegal to possess there). In the free states, they're just parts.

[1] You can safely interchange foreign military FCGs in to your US made AK (mind your 922r). It takes a whole lot more than a foreign milsurp FCG to get FA capability.

Nope. Only parts that can be used ONLY in a machinegun not any part that can be used in a machinegun are illegal in Washington. For the AK that pretty much means only the auto sear itself. Bolt carriers and the balance of the full auto trigger group can be used in semiauto guns.

Yes,
the trigger, hammer, and disconnector "can" be used in a semi-auto.
But not the trip or rate reducer.

I've used original triggers, hammers, and disconnects in pistol builds due to the non 922 compliances for a pistol.

The rate reducer/anti bounce thingy is not a full auto part. It can be used in a semi. It does nothing on a semi and is not a full auto conversion part or really even a full auto part at all.
The only parts I've ever worried about and destroyed when I found them in my stash were lower rails with the cut in them.
i give my FA parts to my friends with FA guns.... LOL

then i shoot them with those guys. :)
Since I don't live in Washington State and don't have plans to do so in the future, I have used factory hammer, trigger, disconnector parts in most of my caliber conversion builds since I usually find 922 compliance parts elsewhere (barrel, piston, custom stock, etc).

If ever I get a transfer to WA, I'm going to have to shell out a few hundred bucks for USA trigger sets! I've forgotten the specifics but as I recall the disconnector was the "bad" piece in WA state; chipmechanic could say for certain.

Washington. Land of the badly phrased gun laws. Only parts that can "solely" be used in a machine gun are illegal. That pretty much means only the auto sear itself for an AK. Everything else can be used in a semi too so they are legal. You wouldnt have to change trigger groups. Its one of those laws that no one has ever been prosecuted under. Its really a badly phrased law that was meant to ban machinegun conversion devices like drop in auto sears and if the state AG has a case before them that there is a DIAS involved they just hand it over to the BATF for federal prosecution anyway. The Washington AG wouldnt know a AK auto sear of it poked his eye out.

There is no such thing as an auto sear in an AK.
Ah OK thanks for the clarification! Possibly saved me some money :)

Sure there isnt. If you didnt know what I was talking about raise your hand. If you did then you kind of have to admit that what I am talking about is also called an auto sear by a large segment of the population. You could also call it a sear trip or a safety sear . I don't care if you call it a coke spoon but its still the lever that releases the hammer on automatic fire mode.

BZZZZZT

Tell me why the same exact part (it's called the "safety sear", btw) is present in the semi-auto-by-design PSL rifle, AND the Kalashnikov?

Why doesn't it make the PSL go RAT-A-TAT-TAT?

Because it's NOT AN AUTO SEAR.
I don't care if you call it a coke spoon but its still the lever that releases the hammer on automatic fire mode.
It also holds the hammer cocked until the bolt is locked when the rifle is fired in semiauto mode.
That's why PSLs (except those imported to the US) have the safety sear even though those are not FA capable.
Install that safety sear in an AK and then send it to the ATF for evaluation. I'm sure they'll be amused with your proclivity for safety .
