Well, I loaned out my set of 5.45 guages.
Got the email today when I got back from vacation.

Go guage is chipped.
Looks usable, but am not sure.
Kinda sucks, I got 6 more 5.45 kits to build.

Anyone got a extra GO guage they want to sell?

Looks like I am out of the LOAN A GAUGE business.

Man they must be awful hard to chip like that. Do you think that was a manufacturing defect?

Man that sucks!

I have used those very gauges on at least three rifles.
They were brand new when I got them from DrugRunR.
It seems to me that he should offer to buy a new gauge for him.
I would not think it is totally unusable though as long as the OAL is not effected. It just looks like crap.
I can only think of two things that would cause that kind of damage.
A drop onto a conctrete floor and using too much force on the bolt to make it close. Finger pressure is all that is needed to check.
Maybe it got stuck in the chamber and a screwdriver was used to extract it :dunno:

Chuck, shoot get me an e-mail when you get the chance.

Yes, please let us know if an offer to replace the gauge was made, if not I think that people should be made aware that there is someone out there that will do this and not act responsibly (sometimes you just bite the bullet). That's why you need to do the deposit thing...Full replacement price.

It does look like it was droped or pryed. Damn shame.

I'm not a great person for lending out tools, seems that I always get them back in worse shape than when given.

That sucks.

I would hope whoever you were kind enough to loan them to, would offer to replace it.

If not, I agree You should post the persons name in order to warn others of their unscrupulous behavior.
Or at the very least use the trader rating system.

Basically what I offered was this.
Send me $60 deposit to my Paypal Account.
I would pay for shipping to them $3.85 out of my pocket
They would then use them for x amount of time and ship them back.
Once the guages arrived safely, I would refund the ENTIRE amount back to them.

The person offered to do one of two things.
(1) return the guages and I keep the $60
OR
(2) keep the guages and I keep the $60

I said send them back.
If I can purchase a replacement guage I will refund the money less the cost of the replacement guage.

It happens, I am not mad.

The person didn't mean to break it. And hopefully will return the guages.

Well, I guess that maybe after the holidays I can see if we can stir up enough interest to do another GB on the gauges.

I had a lot of fun, lost a little bit but it was a great learning experience for me. I would do it again.

I think the price break is at 6 sets of 5.45 guages (1 set = 1 go and 1 no go)

I think we can do this after the first of the year.

I will be in for 1 complete set and 1 go guage
so that leaves 9 guages left

don't know.
Haven't got it back yet.

All I know is that it is not in the same condition as it was when I loaned it.
