Will this work for an M-70 milled receiver ?

Just like the title says I am interested in replacing the barrel on my milled Yugo M-70. I know that the Yugo is kind of a beast unto itself for many of it's parts so I need to know if this barrel is the correct size(s) to fit the receiver, rear sight base, gas block, and front sight base.

New Manufactured AK47 1970 Barrel

Also curious what has been done (or not done) on Green mountain barrels (from those of you who have personally worked one).
Like:
cut out on chamber end
Gas port hole
etc.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge on these,
Nico

I'd think that barrel is standard AKM dimensions and the Yugo stuff would be to big for it, the chamber end would fit a trunnion or receiver though.

Can't answer the rest of your questions, if no one can help here, send them an email or call.

Thanks Coils.
Way ahead of you though.
E-mail went out to them yesterday, and CarloC from Glocktalk was nice enough to provide me with some information on Yugo barrel dimensions.

Here's milled M-70 Yugo data:
Rear Sight Base: .723"
Handguard retainer: .684
Gas Block: .628"
Front Sight Base: .587"

M-64 data:
Rear Sight Base: .722"
Handguard retainer: .682"
Gas Block: .624"
Front Sight Base: .586"

Yugo AKM data:
Rear Sight Base: .730"
Handguard Retainer: .687"
Gas Block: .630"
Front Sight Base: .593"

Here is some standard AK-47 data:
Rear sight base: .723"
Handguard retainer: .682"
Gas block: .624"
FSB: .585"

And some AKM data (not including Chinese):
Rear sight base: .692"
Handguard retainer: .670"
Gas Block: .593"
FSB: .574"
Mine appears to be a milled Yugo AKM with dimensions of :
Receiver= .910
Rear Sight= .730
Handguard retainer= .688
Gas Block= .631
Front Sight= .591

I have also sent them (Green Mountain) the distance for the handguard retainer cut on my barrel as their picture appears to have one already cut.
I will update this thread with their reply.

If the Yugo barrels that Rguns sells (M72 type) are Green Mountian barrels (heard they are but haven't confirmed that) then they are just profiled and chambered. No cuts for extractor, gas port, LHG, or any of the pins.

Hope that helps.
I have a green mountain m76 barrel, it has the chamber cut the cut for extractor and hand gaurd grove cut but no gas hole. Hope that helps

This does help, and would be exactly what I would want done on a replacement barrel.
Thanks.
Still awaiting a response from Green Mountain (I hope on Monday when they return to the office).
I believe I can make out the handgaurd retainer cut in the enlarged picture of the barrel in your link, also I would hope (and somewhat assume) that it already has the extractor notch cut as well since it says it has a chrome chamber. Just my thoughts
Talked with Dennis from Green Mountain barrels today about the AK47 (1970s model) that they have for sale.
He was nice enough to pull one from the assembly line, take profile dimensions of it, and call me back.
Great news is it's the correct size for my Yugo M70 :rockin:

I ordered one on the spot, and it should be on it's way soon.
I have received my new barrel from Green Mountain barrels today.
It is an EXACT match for the barrel I pulled from my milled receiver Yugo M70.
Here's the dimensions as I measured them from both barrels:
Receiver= .906
RSB=.728
Handguard retainer=.688
Gas Block=.631
FSB=.591

Some pictures of the new (chrome lined) GM barrel next to the pulled barrel from my rifle>>>
(the end of the old barrel has been cut shorter for re-crowning, and the new still has a protective cap on the threads)

I recommend talking with Dennis at Green Mountain Barrels as his customer service is fantastic.

Looks great Nico. Let us know how she works.

Big-Un
Took her out today with some wolf black box, and sighted in.
Here's the rifle, and 11 shots at a 6" target sitting, rested on my range bag, and using a cheapo 5MOA red dot.

That looks nice considering it's a Comifornia rifle :D
Seems to shoot good too

Thanks for the update and pics.
