According to local (Milwaukee and State) media;

The survivors admit shooting back after they were fired on, (there was supposedly one rifle found.) at the scene.

Vang has obviuosly had good Marquette lawyer advice, and is now admitting he shot the people, including several in the back.

But only after they surrounded him, called him names, used racial slurs and besides that, the murdered people shot first.

Our oh-so PC Governor, Mr. anti-gun himself, has declared that the state is taking over the case.

This is interesting because Wisconsin has no State Police in the normal sense. Merely a State Traffic Patrol, who's charter limits them to State and Federal highways.

Gov. Doyle, will of course now be able to hold endless news conferences, featuring himself on TV, and pursue his anti-gun super liberal agenda.

Any excuse, real or manufactured.

Wow, sounds like Wisconsin really sucks, espeacially after what you said about the way the DNR handles stuff...

Seems weird that such a rural kind of state is so liberal....

This whole shootong thing is going to be a big mess, and it is bad news for gun owners, all in all a real Charles Foxtrot....

What part of WI did this happen at? It seems to me, that they are more gun friendly way up North rather than the area close to IL. I'm about 20 minutes or so from the border and had thought about moving up there. However, after hearing so many horror stories about anti-gunners up there, I'm not sure it's much better than IL, besides less people. Chicago needs to get rid of Daley, I think he's the cause for so much of this. The machine seems to spread to adjoining states, sadly.

I'll have to ask my BIL about this incident. He's always hunting in many areas of WI. He may even know the people.

Glad to hear someone fired back, I was wondering about that. The whole situation is just sad, and of course the blame is on the gun, not the moron shooting.

You're right, it is weird!

It's incredinly frustrating also.

If tou look at the Red and Blue County map from the last election, it'll help to explain a lot!

The blue counties are the big high population, union oriented, Democrat controlled areas.

That means, vote fraud, big time, in those counties. Last election, Milwaukee had "trouble" reporting the vote, until the rest of the state was mostly in. Then Milwaukee could report, and surprize surprize there were just enough "new voters" registered in Milwaukee to give Kerry the State.

Anyone living in Chicago since the '60's knows how that works.

The college students at U.W. Madison, (and a few other sites) also like to vote early and frequently.

You can draw a line from Milwaukee to La Cross, and basiclly south of that line is the Dem run area.

The rural part of the State is pretty conservative, pro gun and laid back.

The Dems biggest contributors are the Teachers Union, the other Gov. employees unions, trial Lawyers, and the Indian Casino operators.
In about that order.

That's the crowd that makes the rules and raises the taxes. The rest of the State gets to obey the rules and pay the taxes.

Not unlike the situation in Illinois, where Chicago dominates.

Like Illinois, the rural part of the state isn't happy with this, but they are outnumbered.

For years now the northern third of the state has been semi-serious about seceeding and joining with Michigan U.P to create a new state. They're tired of being dictated to by Milwaukee and Madison.

So here I sit in a state where I like the rural people, love the land and despise the Covernment!

I think it's called a conundrum. :)

Hi Sandy, didn't know you were so close!

Okay if I jump the gun a little (what's a mere 6 hours among friends?) and try to be the first to say :bday:

The killings happened in South Western Sawyer County, in an area near Birchwood, about 130 miles north of Eau Claire. close to Barron county where the victims were from, very rural, the deer outnumber the people by a lot. Close to Rice Lake, if that helps. Most of the problems up there are caused by the slime slopover out of the twin cities.

Hmmm, just like this one!

The rural areas are much more realistic about guns," just a tool , don't shoot my stock, don't knock down my fences and I don't care what you do. You leave me alone and I'll leave you alone." Oh yeah! "If I didn't call a cop, I don't need a cop." Not anti-gun at all!

That's where I got most of my outlook from, growing up summers on various relatives farms, mostly in the Richland Center, Mazomanee, Baraboo hill country. Pretty real people, phony BS doesn't fly very far there.

The Racine, Kenoshe , Milwaukee area is a little too chicago like, Madison is 40 square miles of Madison (UW), surrounded by reality.

The rest of the state ia actually a pretty cool place to live, (pun intended), but it's still true! :)

I don't think there was much shooting back, it appears there was only one weapon among the 8 that were shot. (Cant have a loaded weapon on an ATV in Wis. has to be in a case too.)

For the explanation of the cause see my reply to pzjgr above.

Please don't write the whole State off because of anything I've said. I just live too close to Milwaukee, and it galls me some.

Sad thing .... we'll hear more as the story unfolds.....some of what we hear may even be true!

Regards, and :bday: , early!

I'll have to look at a map because Rice Lake isn't ringing a bell. Normally when I go up to WI, we hit the dells, Baraboo. Devils Lake, etc. My BIL has a cabin in Northwoods? I think LOL. I have some friends over at Twin Lakes as well. It always seemed gun friendly to me as there are gun shops all around the place and everyone is always headed up that way to hunt. I was hoping the CCW would pass but I guess that didn't happen. It seems gun laws are close to the same, except you all don't need the dreaded FOID card. :D All the people I have talked to up there were much nicer than the ignorant people here, near Chicago. Except for Madison! I thought I was in Chicago when we stopped there. lol

I will talk to my BIL and see if he heard anything. I think that may be the area he goes to but I'm not positive. He seems to know *everyone* lol so I will see what kind of info I can get.

No matter what, it's still tragic. I was hoping to hear one of the hunters had their shotgun w/them and blew the guy away. Of course it didn't happen that way so now the anti's have more ammo. I wish they would report more stories where guns are used in self defense, happens more than murders, yet they don't report that. It gets annoying, ya know?

I heard the killer is out on bond? I just caught literally a second of it on FOX and I could have sworn they said he made bail. Supposedly he was from MN, had some domestic violence charges, but used his CA license to get the ammo and/or gun. I also believe HE was trespassing so I'm not sure what the whole deal is with him stating the others surrounded him. I guess we will hear more as the days go on. You never really get the real story until at least a week later, it's all speculation up to that point, IMO.

Thanks for the info and thanks for the bday wishes! :thumbup1:
