I watched a bit of what has to be the worst remake ever.of a great movie.

Stagecoach, a 1966 remake of the John Wayne's 1939 classic.

The remake had Bing Crosby, Ann Margaret and a number of other famous and semi famous actors.

It was so bad I could not watch it to conclusion. Der Bingle was just not cut out for a dramatic Western.

I never saw the remake. The original was a great one though.

I had never seen it nor even heard of it until yesterday and now I know why....

With this group, you might think it would be ok:

Cast overview, first billed only:
Ann-Margret .... Dallas
Red Buttons .... Peacock
Mike Connors .... Hatfield (as Michael Connors)
Alex Cord .... Ringo Kid
Bing Crosby .... Doc Josiah Boone
Robert Cummings .... Henry Gatewood (as Bob Cummings)
Van Heflin .... Marshal Curly Wilcox
Slim Pickens .... Buck, Stage Driver
Stefanie Powers .... Mrs. Lucy Mallory
Keenan Wynn .... Luke Plummer
Brad Weston .... Matt Plummer
Joseph Hoover .... Lt. Blanchard
John Gabriel .... Capt. Jim Mallory
Oliver McGowan .... Mr. Haines
David Humphreys Miller .... Billy Pickett

Believe it or not, Norman Rockwell, the artist had a cameo role in it.

Too many stars, all preening at the same time, ruins a movie.
