I have all my long guns in the bed room on the wall. I keep looking at my Alby SKS Taht is still in cosmo on the inside. I cleaned the out side off so I could handle it with out getting all over me. It's driving me nutts over taking it down and cleaning it up and taking it to the range and shooting it !

This gun has all matching numbers including the stock.
The finish on the stock is flaking some and I know if I clean it up I'll wont to redo the finish like I've seen so minie people do.
BUT I wont to keep it the way I got it.

SO should I ?
OR should I not ?

That's a hard one. I think if you leave the stock very close to original you should be ok. Most of the Alby's I ever saw all had really crappy looking stocks. With such small numbers, I think the value of it would still stay up even if you finished it....as long as you did a good job and kept it looking original. I can't say I've refinished mine, but I haven't had the time to do it either. When I get the opportunity I will though!

Great weapons, clean the cosmo out, soak the bolt so that the firing pin is free, clean it, clean it and when you think it is done, clean it again. Get head space gauges, check them out, if OK, then shoot he shit out of them. They were designed and made for more than you can throw at them.

If you aren't going to shoot it, why not just carve one out of soap and paint it and hang that on the wall?

I hear that they have great deals on those lifelike airsoft guns.

Sheesh. It's a gun. Not to shoot it is like buying a Porsche and parking it in your room.

I have had my Albie for 2 years now but have never shot it. Don't really know why except I have my Yugo to shoot and assorted AK's. Of course then I built an AR and that was fun for a while. But then I got a Garand from CMP and that was it. What to do with the Albie? I have toyed with selling it but I don't know with a few of them that are avalable.. My guess is that I'll end up selling it to get something I would shoot on a regular basis. With so few of them around it seems that they need to be w/collectors who will treasure and caress them. My thoughts anyhow.

I have 2 Alby's. One is in very good condition. The other is a well used battle rifle. When I purchased #2 (from AIM I think) they included a brand new stock for it. I won't sell them.
They may have to pry my cold dead hands from them. :)

I shoot everything I own, but a few pieces are treated more like I would a vintage Covette. In other words, I don't commute in it but I drive it on sunny days.

On the other hand, my son said something interesting to me not long ago about my firearms, which someday will be his.

The ones he really has some sentiment about are the ones I shoot often, quite often with him. To him, knowing it is one of my favorites is why he would cherish it and would be able to picture me enjoying it. It would be part gun and part me.

Gave me another perspective on using the things you own.
